Article I: Name and Purpose

Name: LGU ACM Student Chapter (Lahore Garrison University Association for Computing Machinery Student Chapter)

Purpose: To advance computing as a science and profession. To promote:

  • • Professional development and technical excellence among students
  • • Collaboration, innovation, and ethical conduct in computing
  • • Awareness of the latest advancements in computer science and technology
  • • Networking opportunities with industry professionals and academia

Article II: Membership

Eligibility: Open to all students at Lahore Garrison University interested in computing and technology, regardless of major or academic level.

Types of Membership:

  • Full Members: Students with active ACM membership (voting rights, officer eligibility)
  • Associate Members: Students without ACM membership (event participation, no voting rights)

Membership Benefits:

  • • Access to workshops, seminars, and technical events
  • • Networking with industry professionals
  • • Participation in competitions and hackathons
  • • Leadership opportunities and skill development
  • • ACM global member benefits (for full members)

Article III: Officers

Executive Committee:

  • Chair: Leads the chapter, represents it to ACM and university
  • Vice Chair: Assists the Chair, assumes duties in their absence
  • Secretary: Maintains records, minutes, and communications
  • Treasurer: Manages finances and budget
  • Webmaster: Maintains website and digital presence

Eligibility: Officers must be ACM members in good standing

Term: One academic year (renewable)

Elections: Held annually at the end of spring semester

Article IV: Faculty Sponsor

The chapter must have a Faculty Sponsor who is an ACM professional member. The sponsor:

  • • Provides guidance and oversight to the chapter
  • • Reviews and approves chapter activities
  • • Serves as liaison between chapter and university
  • • Co-signs financial transactions
  • • Submits annual reports to ACM

Article V: Meetings

  • Regular Meetings: At least twice per month during academic semester
  • General Meetings: Open to all members
  • Executive Meetings: Officers and faculty sponsor
  • Quorum: 50% of active members for voting on constitutional amendments

Article VI: Finances

  • • Chapter funds from membership dues, fundraising, and university support
  • • Treasurer maintains financial records and prepares budget
  • • All expenditures require Treasurer and Faculty Sponsor approval
  • • Annual financial report submitted to ACM

Article VII: Amendments

This constitution may be amended by:

  • • Two-thirds vote of active members present at a meeting
  • • Written notice of proposed amendments given 10 days prior
  • • Faculty sponsor review and approval
  • • Submission to ACM for compliance verification

Article VIII: Dissolution

In the event of chapter dissolution, all assets shall be transferred to ACM or another ACM student chapter as designated by ACM. No assets shall be distributed to individual members.
